Last night, I heard Angela
Ahrendts talk about her company,
Burberry. She spoke mostly about how technology affects the brand of the company. As you probably know,
Burberry came out with a new website. What I most liked most about her presentation was the preview of what's to come at
Burberry. I have a secret ... that was shared with just me (just kidding -- more like 600 other people). Beginning this summer, if you have the money, you can now customize your
Burberry trench ... belts, zippers, lining, studs, buttons and collars. I love it! But for now you can go their
Art of the Trench website to show how you wear yours.
Now, I want to talk about Angela, now that she's my best friend :) (I wish). She was born in Indiana and went to Ball State University, where I saw her. After college, she went to New York City and got her first job in the fashion industry working in a menswear department. Before taking going to
Burberry, she worked at Liz Claiborne for seven years. She moved her family to London when she was approached by
Burberry to take on the big job.
One of my favorite parts of the evening was her discussion of how important it is to know who you are so you know what you want to do in your life. She admitted she's not as creative as she is analytical and understands the fashion industry. She seems very focused. I liked her presence -- and her trench coat!
