it is a fabric or not. Well, aside from that, lace is amazing. I love that it is so light and airy and delicate, but can also add a little stylish vintage to an extremely boring outfit. There are so many designs that lace comes in; flowery, tablecloth (a design I would highly not recommend), and retro or vintage. This may not seem like a lot, but have you ever tried to make lace, neither have I. I'd rather just buy it from the fabric store nearby instead of weaving it myself, I'm sure you all feel the same way. 
Lace is pretty hard to sew with though, it isn't like cotton, it's like a silk but it doesn't slip or slide like silk. You have to sew a couple times over to make sure that you actually got it on the back skirt.
